Is the spread of bacteria invisible to you?

We will OPEN your eyes...

ABOUT US

We are a small team performing rapid and economic bacterial strain typing on demand in our research lab since 2021.

Simply: in two bacterial isolates from two locations we are able to see whether they are different, or appear to be identical. If two apparently identical isolates come from two patients staying at the same ward in a particular time period, our economic technique is likely to be sufficient to confirm their identity. Therefore, no other costly techniques are needed for routine monitoring of bacterial spread. Repeated appearance of such pairs or chains of identities observed at the same ward indicates that infection prevention and control measures are failing in some way. Our experience shows that a significant part of hospital clonal spread of bacteria occurs at low intensity but steadily, mainly as colonization, which goes unnoticed by traditional infection prevention and control monitoring. Such spread creates an environment that is conducive to outbreaks of infection. In addition, the spread of antimicrobial resistance is further supported during such passaging.

We strive to offer effective help and expert advice to any healthcare facility interested in assessing whether any bacterial spread is occurring in their setting. IIf it is confirmed, we help decipher likely routes of spread and draw up ways to counter it. The efficacy of IPC bundles introduced following this can be evaluated by the next round of strain typing.

I'll believe it when I see it

We offer a free trial of our service, which can compare up to 96 bacterial isolates that you provide, typically within two working days of receipt.

If you're not sure whether our service is right for your facility, consider that we work with both large and small hospitals, and our results are truly interesting. Check out the presentation in the main video on our channel below to learn more.

We don't offer a "pig in a poke." If you're considering a trial, please don't hesitate to contact us. We will schedule a time to come to you, meet with you in person, and discuss all of your questions in detail, with no obligation.

We also offer a lecture on the clonal spread of bacteria and its impact on antibiotic resistance. This lecture can be used as a seminar for doctors and nurses as part of their professional development.

Everything is non-binding and free of charge.

* Our bacterial typing service is particularly useful to monitor spread of bacterial clones in healthcare facilities. We help improving infection prevention and control a thus decrease the spread of antimicrobial resistance as well. The service is performed by the Department of Microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic, under the brand name "Typing for Life".
Služba je prováděna Ústavem mikrobiologie * Lékařské fakulty * Univerzity Palackého v Olomouci pod značkou "Typing for Life".
